'Food For People' free produce market ends Thursday
EUREKA- Thursday is the last day for Food For People’s free produce market in eureka. Coordinators said they have provided thousands of pounds of food this season to people in Humboldt County through the program.
The seasonal market runs from May until October. This year they have partnered with Fortuna Community Services to host a market in Fortuna as well. The free produce is for low-income families and is available to anyone who meets the income requirements. The market typically features fresh fruit and vegetables as well as free recipes and cooking tips. This year they have given out over 40,000 pounds of food to over 4,000 people in the county. Coordinators said it provides families with affordable healthy food options that may otherwise be too expensive.
If you want to catch the last produce market it is happening tomorrow from noon to 2 p.m. at the food bank in Eureka at 307 West 14th Street.
