Ford leads Boise State to Second place finish at Colby Invitational
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Boise State women's golf team placed three individuals in the top 10 of the Colby Invitational Tuesday, finishing in second as a team.
McKenzie Ford and Sammie Pless each matched their career bests, finishing tied for fourth and seventh, respectively, and Samantha Martin registered her team-leading third top-10 finish of the season, concluding the tournament tied for 10th.
Each is just in her sophomore season with the Broncos.
Ford carded a two-round total of 151 (71-80, +7) at the 6,146-yard Silver Creek Valley Country Club, including an opening-round, 1-under 71 - a career low.
Boise State carded a final-round 313 (+25), falling from first to second place with a score of 616 (303-313, +40). The Broncos had entered the final round with a two-stroke lead, but tournament-host Santa Clara claimed the team title, edging Boise State by one stroke.
The Broncos will conclude their fall season at the Winthrop Intercollegiate in Rock Hill, S.C., Nov. 2-3.
