Former Yurok Forestry Director Faces Sentencing Friday
Former Yurok Forestry Director accused of embezzling a million dollars from the Yurok tribe will face sentencing Friday. Ronald Raymond plead guilty to taking federal funds from the tribe in a previous hearing. Raymond faces a maximum of 37 months in jail in federal prison.
Raymond's sentencing was postponed after the tribe requested time to collect victim statements.
Raymond said he took the money to support his gambling and drug addiction. Raymond's attorney is asking the judge that he is given credit for the time he has already served.
