Fortuna dog park delayed, expected to open in October
FORTUNA- The first-ever dog park slated to open this month in city of Fortuna has been delayed until October.
In June the city council voted unanimously to allow the Chamber of Commerce to build an off-leash dog park. It will sit on an acre of city property on Dinsmore Drive off of Highway 101. The chamber said they hope the new park will draw both locals and tourists to the area. The park was expected to open toward the end of this month but officials say due to other construction projects in the area the dog park has been put on hold. Dog park committee member Amanda Timm said,
“You can definitely still count on the dog park coming to Fortuna, we have everything in order. We have the money that we need. We have to revise the layout about how we are going to do things. Recently the folks that have been donating their time have gotten really busy. We are just waiting for the first steps and then we will get going pretty quickly after that,” she said.
