Founders Day celebrates HSU's past, present and future
ARCATA- To celebrate Humboldt State University's next 100 years and to bring their centennial year to a close the campus was host to Founder's Day, an event to celebrate the colleges history.
To start the day's events the university buried a time capsule full of items that represent the university. Inside the box were several items that included a centennial lumberjack bobble head, an athletic jersey, a list of alumni and even salmon scales from the College of Natural Resources.
University President Rollin Richmond kicked off the day by talking about the year in review. The hole to bury the capsule was dug in the concrete up the middle of university's library walkway. Richmond used a gold and green shovel to put sand into the whole as alumni, community members and students followed to cover the hole.
Festivities continued throughout the day and featured Idea Fest, a collection of student presentations and research posters. The night will end in the Dance of the Century, a night featuring music, food and wine.
