EUREKA- The 26-year-old man killed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend in Eureka leaves behind two children and a wife. Now, Tommy Ruiz’ former coworkers are doing their best to help support his family moving forward.
Tommy Ruiz died early Sunday morning after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a curb near West Grant Street in Eureka. Police say that before Ruiz crashed, he was spotted driving upwards of 80 miles per hour on Broadway. Ruiz leaves behind two young boys and a wife. He worked at Mickey’s Quality Cars in McKinleyville the last two years. This week, Ruiz’ coworkers began a fundraiser to raise money for his family. The fundraiser has generated nearly $4,000 so far.
"Hopefully this will help with funeral costs and payments and stuff like that because those things aren't going to stop. They're going to keep on every month. So we want this to help her out and hopefully she can focus on herself and her sons to get through this very, very hard time," said Casey Jones, the Manager at Mickey’s Quality Cars.
