SAN FRANCISCO - One of the most famous bridges in the country will close to vehicle traffic beginning tomorrow.
The Golden Gate Bridge will be closed to install a moveable median barrier which officials believe will provide a safer and more efficient system of separating opposing lanes of traffic.
The closure will begin Saturday, at 12:01 am and re-open Monday, January 12 at 4 am.
Golden Gate Transit buses will still be able to cross the bridge and the ferry system will be expanding service. Alternate routes via the Richmond and Bay bridges are an option as well.
Pedestrians will still be able to use the east sidewalk but parking lots at the bridge will be closed. For more information, go to: www.goldengate.org.
