Governor Brown has declared a drought emergency in the State of California. The decision came after weeks of increasing pressure to take action. For now, the state is asking residents to voluntarily cut back on water usage.
Governor brown's decision will make it easier for transfers of water to take place within the state between those who have extra and farmers who need it.
California is enduring one of the driest winters on record after two years of drought that have left many of its reservoirs depleted. The governor is asking people to voluntarily cut their water use by at least twenty percent.
