Grant Elementary School cuts ribbon on new crosswalks
EUREKA- A project three years in the making came to a close Wednesday with a ribbon cutting for Grant Elementary School’s brand new crosswalks.
The ceremony celebrated a project completed this summer as part of the safe routes to school program. County public works installed raised crosswalks with enhanced striping, new sidewalks and no parking zones on F and Oak Streets in Eureka.
The new infrastructure was funded through a $350,000 federal grant after a community walkability assessment pointed out several needed improvements.
Those who made the project possible say they hope more students will now take to the sidewalk when coming to school.
Do you think the Samoa development project should move forward?
