For one day the American Cancer Society wants people to give up tobacco as part of the Great American Smokeout. The event is held annually and encourages people to quit smoking for good or prepare for quitting.
This years focus is on the tobacco industry and the new technology and push behind electronic cigarettes. The American Cancer Society said e-cigarettes are just as harmful as regular cigarettes, and are not intended as a tool to help people quit smoking.
The American Cancer Society will hold a meeting to help people quit smoking on Wednesday at their Eureka location from 6 to 9 p.m.
