An anthropologist is assisting the Humboldt County Coroner's Office in determining the exact cause of death of Shane Miller, after his remains were found in Petrolia on Friday.

Miller is the murder suspect in the shooting deaths of his two daughters and wife last year in Shasta County. Miller was also the subject of a multi agency search near Petrolia and on the US Marshall Service's 15 Most Wanted List.

According to Sheriff Mike Downey, his remains were found next to a gun. Downey said the department's theory is that Miller committed suicide after his truck was found by law enforcement near Petrolia. However, the Humboldt County Coroner's Office has not found an exact cause of death.

Downey said finding Miller was a relief, saying that he was happy the investigation was over and that Miller did not harm anyone else.
