Guns and marijuana siezed in traffic stop in Eureka
EUREKA- Guns and marijuana were seized after a traffic stop in Eureka.
Eureka Police Department officials confirm they received a call of a reckless driver around 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning. An officer then found the Ford F-150 pickup truck and observed it running a stop sign. The officer then pulled it over at 2nd Street and Commercial Street, after the pickup truck failed to pull over for several blocks. Officers searched the truck and found 5 lbs. of packaged, processed marijuana, a loaded revolver, and a semi-automatic pistol next to a loaded magazine.
Crystal Lapple has been charged with transportation and possession of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. One of the passengers, 29-year-old Eureka resident Leng Yang is the registered owner of the vehicle and received multiple charges including carrying a loaded firearm with the intent to commit a felony. The other passenger, 21-year-old Arcata resident Derek Payton was charged with probation violation.
