Klamath National Forest - The Happy Camp Complex fire continues to wreak havoc after burning an additional 200 new acres over the weekend. You’ll recall it started from lightning in mid August. So far it has burned over 134,000 acres. It is 97 percent contained.
Although rain is expected to help with this huge blaze, fire officials say repair work will continue in all areas to remove hazardous trees and deal with smoke. Personnel will conduct recon flights to monitor activity.
Officials say they have seen hunters in closure areas. They remind the public that for firefighter safety, closures are still in place. If anyone isn’t sure about what areas are open, visit the following web site: www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/klamath/alerts-notices
