Hash lab suspect appears in court, judge orders supervisor release program
EUREKA- The woman accused of being involved in a hash oil explosion that landed her two-year-old son in the hospital appeared in court Friday afternoon. The judge released Andrea Ruiz-Guerrero, 19, to a supervisor release program, meaning she will be allowed out of jail but only under the supervision of a probation officer.
Last month her alleged accomplice Logan Hughes, 21, was indicted by a federal grand jury. The couple was allegedly manufacturing hash oil in August when an explosion happened at their Willow Bay apartment in Eureka. The blast sent their two-year-old son to the intensive care unit at Shriners Hospital in Sacramento where he suffered second and third-degree burns to 45 percent of his body.
In Sept., Ruiz-Guerrero had a felony count of manufacturing a controlled substance dropped, but she still currently faces one count of child endangerment and one felony charge for being an accessory after the crime occurred. She is due back in court for sentencing on Nov. 26.
