EUREKA- Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District is asking residents to conserve water Wednesday. A new connection is being installed and will temporarily shut off the water supply to a portion of the system.
The shutdown is anticipated to last between 12 and 24 hours. The water district will make sure all local reservoirs are full going into shutdown. Residents and businesses in Arcata, Eureka, the Samoa Peninsula and Humboldt County Community Services District are asked to conserve water Wednesday and Thursday.
11 customers near the construction site will be shutdown, the district has notified them individually they said.
Services will resume on Friday, but residents may experience discoloration in the water for a short time. Officials say this does not pose a health risk.
