The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of recovering their 246C CAT that was stolen from their wood lot early Sunday morning.
The theft occurred yesterday around 3:30 a.m. at the area located behind the General Hospital Campus on Harrison Avenue in Eureka. The sheriff’s office said it’s likely that the CAT was driven onto high ground, and then loaded into a trailer before being moved out of the area.
Sergeant Ernie Stewart said they received a tip today that it was at a residence in Hydesville. The resident told deputies that he had just bought it yesterday and had no idea it was stolen. Law enforcement said they are following up with the resident to find who initially took it. No arrests have been made.
