A local man has been killed in another crash on Highway 36
California Highway Patrol Officers say the crash happened Sunday afternoon about six miles east of Highway 101 near Carlotta. They say the driver, 41-year-old Kevin McDonald of Alderpoint, was headed westbound in a 2000 Honda Accord when he crashed head on into a 1970 Kaiser dump truck.
Officers say McDonald died at the scene. The two people in the truck had minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and officers add that McDonald was the only person inside the Honda at the time of the crash. Highway Patrol Officers say this is the fifth crash on Highway 36 this year, making up more than a third of the fourteen fatalities they’ve handled in 2013. Officers tell News Channel 3 they’re increasing patrols in the area.
