Headwaters Fund Board appoints new Chairperson

The Headwaters Fund Board recently appointed new officers for the coming year. Dr. Edward “Buzz” Webb will serve as Chair.
 
Webb is Vice President Emeritus of Humboldt State University, having retired after 25 years.  He has served on several community boards including the Humboldt Library Foundation, Six Rivers Planned Parenthood, the Northern Humboldt Union High School District, and the Patrick Creek Community Services District. Webb has also been a volunteer tutor for the Humboldt Literacy Program, a vasectomy counselor for Planned Parenthood and is currently a mediator with Humboldt Mediation Services.
 
The Headwaters Fund facilitates economic development in Humboldt County through loan and grant programs. Since its inception ten years ago, the Fund has contributed over $18 million the community, with about $12 million in loans, and $6 million in grants. That $18 million in Headwaters Funds leveraged over $43 million in other funding to support business growth, improve the infrastructure and generate jobs.
 
The Headwaters Fund Board is made up of seven community volunteers who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The Headwaters Board makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for grant and loan programs. The Headwaters Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 12:15 at the Prosperity Center, 520 E Street in Eureka. The public is invited to attend.
