A McKinleyville man is arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman then leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase.
Taken into custody was 63-year old Larry Dean McCoy.
Just before 6:30 pm Friday, Arcata police responded to a domestic violence report on Alliance Road in Arcata. Police say McCoy reportedly assaulted a female victim in a BMW car and then fled from authorities. The female passenger was heard yelling for help.
A high-speed chase ensued reaching speeds of over 100-miles per hour. The California Highway Patrol and sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit. Authorities followed McCoy from West End Road to Fish Hatchery Road in Blue Lake. There, McCoy allegedly forced the victim out of the vehicle and headed west on highway 299.
The pursuit ended in McKinleyville at the Chevron gas station on Central Avenue.
McCoy was arrested and booked into Humboldt County Jail for assault with intent of great bodily injury, kidnapping and terrorist threats. The CHP and sheriff’s office have multiple charges pending. The female victim was transported to the hospital with facial injuries.
