Hoopa man arrested in hit and run that sends woman to hospital with major injuries
HOOPA - A Hoopa woman is airlifted to Redding with major injuries after a hit an run accident on Highway 96.
Taken into custody was Omar Dean of Hoopa. CHP says around 7:30 Wednesday night, a pedestrian, Amberli Brock was crossing the street near the Hoopa gas station when Dean allegedly hit her with his vehicle. When law enforcement arrived, he fled the scene. Brock sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Mercey Medical Center.
Dean was apprehended a short time later. He was booked into the Humboldt County jail for felony hit and run. Authorities say impairment was not a factor in the incident.
