The Hospice of Humboldt in Eureka is under new leadership. Joe Rogers, a native of Humboldt County is now the Executive Director. This comes as construction continues for the Ida Emmerson Hospice House. The new home, located south of Harris Street is set to open in September. It will have a chapel for spiritual support, a new administration building, and rooms for up to 12 patients. Rogers said, ”We provide heartfelt patient center, end of life care and not only do we do it now in their home, but we can do it in a hospital like setting. So it really completes our mission and it’s a real gift to the community.” More than 2.5 million dollars in donations helped make the building possible.
