EUREKA- A fully involved house fire on F and Oak Street has left one man injured and in the hospital. Crews from Humboldt Bay Fire found the fire fully involved when they arrived on scene just after 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
The male occupant of the home was found in the backyard of the home and taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital. Battalion Chief William Reynolds said he may need to be transferred to an out of area hospital for his injuries.
Dark plumes of smoke were visible miles away from the blaze. Reynolds said the house is a total loss. The two neighboring homes were threatened, but crews were able to minimize damage and save both buildings.
Four fire engines with 17 firefighters helped to fight the structure fire that took crews 20 minutes to extinguish. F Street was closed and later reopened while crews were on scene.
