House fire in McKinleyville, over $200,000 in damages
MCKINLEYVILLE- Flames and heavy smoke were seen coming from a house in McKinleyville Thursday night. The call came in around 6:30 p.m., of a reported structure fire in the 1800 block of Columbus Avenue.
The home was 20 percent involved when fire fighters with the Arcata Fire Protection District first arrived on scene. The living room area was on fire, and flames were seen coming out of the front door.
"The cause is under investigation. The home was occupied times one. We have been in contact with that person. We’re working closely with the sheriff's department to try and determine the specific cause and origin of the incident,” said Battalion Chief Sean Campbell with the Arcata Fire Protection District.
The fire caused an estimated over $200,000 in damages. No injuries have been reported.
