House passes Farm Bill
A $100 billion per year farm bill was passed yesterday by the house and now needs senate approval to go into effect.
The Agricultural Act of 2014 passed the house by a vote of 251 to 166. It cuts the food stamp program by $8 billion and adds an additional $200 million to funding for food banks. North Coast Congressman Jared Huffman says the bill is quote far from perfect, but also includes some hard won victories. He also says funding of nutrition programs improved during the bill’s two-year stall in the house.
