HSU Awarded For Support of U.S. Coast Guard Student

Humboldt State University receives 'Seven Seals Award' from the Department of Justice for support of a U.S. Coast Guard reservists education while deployed. The university and four faculty members were given the award.

The recipients were: University President, Rollin Richmond, and four art professors, Sondra Schwetman, Nicole Jeane Hill, Sarah Whorf and Julia Alderson.

Art student, Melinda Beacon, a Coast Guard reservist was called for a short-notice deployment to support the in  the relief efforts following hurricane Sandy in 2012.
