EUREKA: Two men are arrested after Sheriff’s Deputies make a routine traffic stop and find over four pounds of heroin.
On Friday, April 11th around 10 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a Chrysler sedan in Myrtletown for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver, 20-year old Mario Martinez from Perris, California was found to be driving on a suspended drivers license. Both Torres and an 18-year old male passenger were very nervous during questioning. A search warrant was obtained and the Humboldt County Drug Task Force was brought in and they found hidden compartments and over four pounds of heroin valued at over two hundred thousand dollars.
Charges of transportation of a controlled substance and possession for sale of a controlled substance are being sought against Torres and the male passenger.
