Humboldt Area Foundation Mourns Death of First Executive Director

HUMBOLDT COUNTY-Humboldt Area Foundation's first employee and Executive Director, Ellen Dusick, died at the age of 87. Dusick worked with the foundation for 20 years and helped to award over six million dollars in grants.

Dusick was part of the community foundation before it was officially established and helped founders Vera and Lynn Vietor to build the organization from $2.4 million dollars to $12 million dollars when she left the foundation in 1992.

While with the foundation Dusick helped award grants to the Sequoia Park Zoo, the Redwood Coast Jazz Festival and the Humboldt County Library.
