Humboldt Business Challenge gives out seed money to entreprenuers.
Fortuna - Ten local recently started businesses have won seed money in stage one of the Humboldt Business Challenge. An awards ceremony was held at the River Lodge. The challenge asked prospective entrepreneurs to come up with unique and sustaining ideas for a business that can contribute to the local economy. Stage one winners received $250.00 of seed money to help them develop and polish their ideas.
Stage two, which will be announced in March, will be offering between $500.00 and $5,000 to prospective companies that have a business plan and have started operations. Stage three will be in August and winning prizes have yet to be announced.
This year’s stage one winners varied from a hard apple cider company and eclectic gift boutiques to a gluten free bakery and an eco-friendly electrical contractor and consulting firm. For more information on the program, go to: humboldtbusinesschallenge.org
