Humboldt County Board of Supervisors assess mid-year budget review
EUREKA- Humboldt County Supervisors will begin their mid-year budget review Tuesday, and although revenues have improved, the county's expenditures continue to grow.
According to Supervisor Rex Bohn, the county's budget is better than it has been, but no where as good as they'd like it to be. The county is currently functioning off of an operational deficit, with expenditures project to exceed budget amounts by more than $180,000.
One particular area of concern they say is the Aviation Enterprise Fund. By the end of the year, the department will have a negative fund of nearly $1 million. The county attributes that to the loss of fuel sales and flights, as well as, tree topping services.
At Tuesday's meeting the supervisors will review the mid-year report and individual department balances, begin planning next year's budget and looking to the long-term.
