Humboldt County Bomb Squad destroys potential explosive device
EUREKA- The Humboldt County Bomb Squad was called to detonate a possible explosive on Thursday.
At about 3:45 p.m. in the afternoon, the Eureka Police Department received a call that a Eureka resident found a rusted military shell at a construction site in Arcata and drove it back to his home on the 300 block of Glen Street. The disposal team responded, and transported the device to Samoa at about 8:30 p.m. to detonate it.
Police do not know why the man brought it home, and EPD officials say to call authorities right away if you locate an explosive device and to not touch them.
