EUREKA - The Humboldt County Coroner has announced his impending retirement and recommends a major change for the department.
Dave Parris who served one term and was beginning his second after being re-elected in June, sighted continued budget problems with the office. He said for many years only three deputy coroners, one administrative support person and the coroner have had to meet the increasing and demanding work load. Parris said he brought up the need to the supervisors for additional employees but that need was never met. He is recommending the office of the coroner be consolidated with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
After thirty seven years, Parris looks forward to more time with family and friends. His last day will be January 30, 2015.
