Humboldt County Election officials making final preparations
Officials with the Humboldt County Elections Office are preparing for the upcoming June 3rd elections, and conducted logic and accuracy testing for the voting system.
This testing is a state requirement that must be met by 2 weeks before the election. The process is designed to make sure ballots are formatted properly and the machines are programmed correctly to recognize results. Various votes are simulated and checked with each of the nine possible ballot types in order to determine the accuracy of the system. Officials with the Humboldt County Elections Office say they try to get this process finished sooner rather than later.
"The election is the basic cornerstone of our democracy and it's important to me, as it should be to every voter, every citizen, every candidate, that the ballots are counted accurately," said Carolyn Crnich, the Humboldt County Clerk, Recorder and Registrar of Voters.
In order to be eligible to vote in the June 3rdelections, you must be registered at the address of your current residence by May 19th.
