Humboldt County photo contest ending Saturday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY - The OneForest Foundation’s photo contest is in its last week and you have until Saturday to submit your work.

The submissions should be photos depicting nature around the county. The winning photos will be used to make the 2017 calendar for the non-profit.

Sales from the calendars will go towards supporting students in attending environmental education leadership training programs.

The contest is open to everyone, but preference goes to Humboldt students and faculty.

"It's a great opportunity to see some of your art in print," said Student Coordinator Colleen Spurlock. "There's a lot of opportunities to take photos in Humboldt County, I know I'm constantly taking pictures and then don't really have a venue for them so, it'd be cool to actually see them in a calendar, and online as well, and to support a good cause."

You can still submit photos by email at

And you can purchase the calendar online and at local businesses.
