EUREKA- Fourteen county vehicles were up for sale Thursday as part of Humboldt County's annual car lot auction.
Each year county staff reviews the vehicles in their fleet taking into account mileage, age and maintenance history. The vehicles that the county can not trade in for a good price, go up for sale. Vehicles ranging from cargo vans to Crown Victorias were for sale for as low as $750. The vehicles were sold auction style to the highest bidder. The funds from the sale will go to the county's Vehicle Replacement Fund.
"We have to take a lot of things into account their mileage, how they're being use," County Automotive Service Technician Jo Wattle said. "Sometimes a department just won't have a use for that type of vehicle because they'll change what their programming I and we can't find another place for that vehicle in our fleet."
The cars not sold today will be up for purchase at the minimum bid amount. For more information call the Humboldt County Fleet Services at 707-445-7374.
