EUREKA- Humboldt County’s main initiatives are set for the new year. On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors officially adopted their state and federal legislative platforms.

Among those platforms is a proposal for state funding to address the negative impacts of Proposition 47. County-hired lobbyists will work next year to secure flexible funding to provide more treatment options for offenders. Also on the state level, the board is pushing to find ways to increase the transport of goods in and out of Humboldt Bay, with hopes of boosting the local economy. Lobbyists will work to secure funding for those studies in the next year.

On the federal level, Humboldt County will continue to seek funding for broadband deployment across rural areas and strengthen child welfare services for families locally.
