Humboldt County supervisors pass ordinance restricting parking
EUREKA- Businesses on Harrison Avenue in Eureka could be losing up to three on-street parking spots next month.
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed an ordinance Tuesday restricting parking on sections of Harrison Avenue, Fisher Avenue and School Road. The ordinance also restricts overnight parking on the Sprowel Creek Road Overpass. The supervisors say the new parking limitations come after several traffic collisions caused by parked cars interfering with the driver’s line of sight. The restrictions will go into effect in thirty days.
“It looks like it's worked out rather well with what they're [Humboldt County Public Works] planning on doing and again, it will stop the near misses and the ones that aren't so near miss and the actual accidents so this is probably in the long run going to be great for the accident count and public safety,” said 1st District Supervisor Rex Bohn.
