Hundreds flock to River Lodge for "Fortuna Strong."
FORTUNA – Hundreds of Fortuna residents, Humboldt County business and political leaders and just those with a desire to help, assembled at the River Lodge Friday night for dinner, dancing and fundraising.
The dancing would happen later in the evening but a packed house helped themselves to a sumptuous buffet, live and silent auctions and lent their support to the mindset: “Fortuna Strong.” It started with an idea, then a phone call and a then citizens pulled together to respond with generosity, kindness and their pocketbooks for the victims of one of the “Friendly City’s” most devastating fires. But, it’s not just about helping five companies that lost their businesses. It’s so much more. It’s about the solidarity.of a community.
Two people who were unable to attend sent their warmest regards and checks. Senator, Mike McGuire and Assembly Member, Jim Wood chipped in $250.00 each to show their support. If you would like to help “Fortuna Strong,” go to: firstname.lastname@example.org
