Investigator breaks down Eureka shooting during Bodhi Tree preliminary hearing
New details have been released in the double murder case against Bodhi Tree.
At a preliminary hearing Wednesday in court, former Eureka Police Detective Peter Cress testified about the Eureka shooting Tree is a suspect in, which happened about a week before two people were shot dead at a home in Eye Street in Arcata. Cress said he spoke to a witness who says he saw Bodhi Tree shoot at 24-year-old Rhett August on the night of May 15th, 2013, at a home on “J” Street.
Cress also testified that Tree and August had been friends for a long time, and that the shooting may be the culmination of an escalated fight on May 12th. Cress also said the bullet that hit August went completely through his torso; he suffered a lacerated liver and had to have part of his lung removed.
Bodhi Tree’s preliminary hearing continues on Thursday morning, September 26th.
