Junior Giants Kickoff and Clinic Success
Eureka-The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods hosted a youth baseball clinic for boys and girls ages 5-10 on Sunday, April 6th at Winship Middle School. The event was to promote their new summer program, Junior Giants, which will launch in Eureka this summer. We had a wonderful turn out at the free 4-hour clinic that was put on by a group of students from Humboldt State University, and supported by members of the California Conservation Corps, Cutten Ridgewood Recreation Association, Kohl’s and other community volunteers.
Junior Giants Summer Baseball is a FREE program for boys and girls ages 5-10 that combines health, education and violence prevention with the fundamentals of baseball. Throughout the eight-week summer program, players will learn the four bases of character development: confidence, integrity, leadership and teamwork while developing healthy habits like good nutrition, reading and striking out bullying. Rewards are given throughout the summer to incentivize players to meet the goals of the program: from rulers and notebooks, to baseball gloves and even a team trip to AT&T Park as guests of the San Francisco Giants.
Online registration for players and volunteer coaches is now open at www.bgcredwoods.org
