Keep Eureka Beautiful continues their mission with another tree planting

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- Keep Eureka Beautiful had their historic tree planting event at the Eureka Inn.

More than 50 volunteers showed up to help plant about 47 Kanzan Flowering Cherry Trees and Magnolias in the sidewalks surrounding the Eureka inn.

The organization says that these trees will not only help beautify the city, but it will also help increase business.

“Especially in the business district, there have been studies from the University of Washington that show that shoppers are willing to spend more time in a business district that is landscaped, spend more money and that they are willing to play more for parking,” said Michele McKeegan, the Tree Committee Chair for Keep Eureka Beautiful. “So, trees are good for business.”
