HUMBOLDT COUNTY- Carolyn Crnich is stepping down from County Clerk, Recorder and Registrar of Voters of the County of Humboldt this January.

Kelly Sanders is the first person to reveal their candidacy for the position.  She made her announcement on Thursday.  Crnich believes Sanders is the right person for the job.

"She has a lot of experience within the office.  Especially the elections department, but she's also gone above and beyond in trying to educate herself as far as things that have to do with the recorder and county clerk functions.  And she's shown the tenacity to be able to get a hold of a project and carry it through," Crnich said.

Kelly Sanders has been the Assistant Registrar of Voters and County Elections Manager for the County of Humboldt for 9 years.  She has worked with Crnich for two terms.  Sanders made her announcement for candidacy for Country Clerk, Recorder and Registrar of Voters at the Carter House Inn shortly after noon on Thursday.  We spoke to Sanders about why she thinks she’s the best person to take over.

"I believe I have the experience and background needed in order to do the job.  I've been working with Carolyn Crnich for the past 9 years.  And, I think my skill set, my background in education, all lend itself to me being the person that's most qualified for the position," said Sanders.
