Kitchen Fire Causes Smoke Damage at Arcata Residence

Just before 1:00 Wednesday afternoon a neighbor heard a smoke alarm coming from a nearby residence on the 1500 block of 12th Street and called 911.

Battalion Chief Rick Gomes was on the scene in just a few minutes and found smoke coming from the home. Engines from Arcata responded and had the fire knocked down quickly. It was contained to the kitchen and caused smoke damage to other parts of the structure, as well as a vacant apartment next door. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
