Kiwanis Club of Henderson Center honors local women
EUREKA - Women in the work world were honored Wednesday at the Kiwanis Club of Henderson Center luncheon in Eureka.
October is National Business Women’s Month and the club wanted to recognize business-women on a local level. A committee chose a Business Woman of the Year, a Woman of Distinction, and a Non-Profit Woman of the Year.
Hundreds joined the club in celebrating these and other women as well as participating in an auction. All funds raised will go to the Community Service Fund that Kiwanis spends back into our community.
Wednesday was the club’s first Women in Business luncheon but they hope to make it an annual event.
"I think it's important to recognize the women in business here. We have been wanting to recognize women for quite a while and I think it's great to show support with all that they're doing here in Eureka,” Lisa Gallagher, a committee member, said.
