Labor Day enforcement: DUI checkpoint, saturation patrols planned
Labor Day weekend has local law enforcement gearing up to crack down on drunk driving.
The Eureka Police Department will be conducting a DUI and drivers license checkpoint on Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. within city limits. The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign continues through the holiday weekend to Monday night.
The “Avoid the 7 DUI Task Force” and the California Highway patrol are maximizing their patrols. Officers will be out on saturation patrols with the goal of getting drivers under the influence off the road. The task force says since the campaign started August 16th they’ve arrested 59 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
