Landslide could cause sewage spill in the Eel River at Redway
REDWAY- A landslide in Redway put the Eel River at risk of contamination Wednesday morning. The slide destabilized a sewer pipe that crosses the river, running the risk of dumping a substantial amount of sewage into the river if the pipe breaks.
Water and sewer users were notified Wednesday morning of a potential shut down of water delivery throughout Redway while crews worked to stabilize the pipe.
Residents are asked to conserve water and minimize use of the wastewater service. The district also asked residents to set aside enough water for one day of personal use. If the line does break during repair, water could be shut off through the weekend.
