CRESCENT CITY - The lawsuit between Sutter Coast Hospital and the benefactor of the land the hospital sits on continued Tuesday. The two party’s met for a case management conference. The widow of the donor of the hospital property is suing the hospital for breach of contract and charitable trust violation. Beverly Hussey, the widow, claims the hospital is violating the original intention of the land by attempting to change it from an Acute Care Hospital to a Critical Access Hospital. In addition, there are questions of hospital board members using the hospital, which is a charity, for self-dealing. Tuesday, the judge suggested a possible mediation between the two, which was not agreed on. Another case management conference has been scheduled for April 10, 2015. And a 10 day jury trial date has been set for November 2, 2014.
