EUREKA- A State of the Community luncheon brought hundreds together Friday at the Adorni Center in Eureka.
The luncheon is an annual event for the League of Women Voters. Guests learned about current issues in the community including the California water crisis, trespass marijuana grows and the upcoming fire season. Several people were also honored for civic contribution awards.
Keynote Speaker and Supervisor of Six Rivers National Forest, Merv George said, “It is very humbling for me to be able to come in and share some of the successes and some of the things were working on the forest level. There’s a lot of people in this room today that are the movers and shakers of our area so to be able to share and see how we can build our collaborative spirit and be able to work on some of these community issues together is very exciting.”
