Local author and advisor to Reagan dies
EUREKA - He was an advisor to President Reagan and his clients were a who’s who of major corporations. Peter Hannaford died this past Saturday.
He had a long career in public relations and politics. He wrote ten books mostly about past U.S. Presidents and media relations and hundreds of articles for magazines and newspapers.
He most prominent and influential role was an assistant to then Governor Reagan and director of his public affairs helping to usher “The Gipper” into the White House.
Since 2001, his company, Hannaford Enterprises, has been headquartered in Eureka. Some of his clients included the New York Stock Exchange, City Bank and General Motors.
His most recent literary effort was editing the diaries of investigative journalist, Drew Pearson. Hannaford was just weeks away from his 83rd birthday.
