Local beach closed after sewage spill in Crescent City
CRESCENT CITY- A local beach is closed after a sewage spill in Crescent City. Crews arrived at the wastewater treatment plant around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and discovered a valve was left in the wrong position, causing an over flow that eventually reached a near by storm drain.
Crews were able to stop the spill within a half hour. City officials say they believe they captured most of the drainage, but as a precaution the city closed down part of the beach near the B Street Pier. The area will remain closed for at least 48 hours until sample results are back from the lab.
