Major injuries sustained in two Klamath car crashes
Two crashes in Del Norte County have resulted in major injuries.
The first happened just before 4 p.m. on Highway 101 in Klamath. Highway Patrol Officers say Timothy Dougan of Ardmore, Oklahoma was headed north across the Klamath River Bridge on his motorcycle. Officers say he was going too fast, couldn’t stop in time and rear-ended another vehicle.
Dougan was airlifted to Rogue Valley Medical Center, but officers say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Just over an hour later, a second collision occurred on 101 in Klamath just north of McMillan road.
Officers say 68-year-old Fred Wingard of Klamath didn’t slow down in time to stop, causing a three-car pileup. Wingard sustained major injuries as a result. Occupants of the other two cars walked away with minor injuries. Officers say all involved parties were wearing seatbelts at the time.
